borges’s hunt for metaphors
silvia on Jun 17th 2011
when i was young, i was always hunting for new metaphors.then i found out that good metaphors are always the same. i mean you compare time to a road, death to sleeping, life to dreaming, and those are great metaphors because they correspond to something essential.
much like in life, in literature people seek for the yet unobtained, the utterly new expression to render the subtlest thought, and much like in life it is the simplest ideas that are the most refined.
